The objective of the project is the conservation and restoration of the micro-basin of the Guatama ravine, the environmental restoration of forest with endemic species and prohibited logging.

Its purpose is to protect the Quebrada Guatama micro-basin which supplies water to approximately 40 families; care for and recover the native oak forests, the fauna and flora present in them, in particular some species of birds and plants unique in the country and the world. This territory is of vital importance as it is located in one of the main sources that produce water for several towns in Boyacá and Santander.

It is part of the water basin that supplies water to a large part of the country’s dairy industry, its ecosystem is characterized by being a High Andean Forest; It is of vital importance because it has a high environmental susceptibility and is located in a fairly degraded area mainly due to livestock and agriculture.

LOCATION

The Quebrada Guatama project is located 10 kilometers from the town of San Miguel de Sema, Boyacá. This population is located 65 km west of Tunja, the capital of the Department.
